INTERNSHIP (Skillbridge Program)

The Britt Foundation’s Internship program specifically targets servicemen and women who are transitioning out of the military. We have partnered with the military’s Skillbridge Program to help those service members develop important skills during this important transitional period. Finding a job or
career can be difficult for anyone, but it can be especially difficult for veterans transitioning out of the military.

WHY IS IT DIFFICULT FOR TRANSITIONING VETERANS?

Veterans have the skills and knowledge, but no degree. While the military provides a lot of great training, it doesn’t provide certificates and degrees that are commonly required when looking for a civilian job.

THEIR RESUMES ARE MISUNDERSTOOD

While many veterans have had a lot of great experiences in the military, they don’t often know how to communicate that experience in a way that is commonly understood in the civilian world.

TRANSITION STRESS

The military provides a sense of camaraderie and purpose! Oftentimes as veterans are transitioning, they experience a lot of stress and sometimes even lack of purpose. We see our internship program as an opportunity to give back to veterans for their sacrifice and dedication. We are committed to helping them reach their dreams and aspirations. This is done in the following ways:

° We assign various tasks and projects to our interns to strengthen their management skills.

° We provide different resources for our interns so that they can continue updating and improving their resumes.

° We invite professionals from various industries to come and share with our interns about specific fields.

Transitioning out of the military can be daunting and exciting, but I knew I wanted my Skillbridge experience to be developmental and aligned with my interests of mentorship and the outdoors.
